If you watch carefully in the fourth round, 'Our 'Enery' clipped Muhammad Ali (at the time called "Cassius Clay") with two rocking right-hooks and a further two devastating left-hooks. I know that "Our Enery", who was actually left-handed, but fought orthodox (the actual secret of the quite tremendous power he could assert with his left hook), said that his right hand was only to wipe the sweat off his brow, but those right-hooks actually did the job. Then the third, lethal left-hook put your man Ali solidly on his arse. It should've been game over at that point, but such is life. In retrospect, your man "Enery" was far too light to be a heavyweight. He was a very fearsome and skilled boxer with an absolutely withering left-hook, of that there can be no doubt, but he was, at the most, a Cruiserweight in the present boxing categories. However, I still very much admire him for his sheer humanity and his utter devotion to his family and friends. At no time did he ever put on airs and graces. A most marvellous man! And that;'s coming from an Irishman! MsG

Excellent video. I think having no amateur career hurt Love. He also would not have been so overmatched early in his career. Skilled as Love was, he might have learned more about training and technique that might have made for a longer career.

Why in boxing are bouts held between former sparring partners ? That is ridiculous - when there have always been plenty of fighters that need a shot at the title - or even just a bout - wtf !

I was born and raised in Levelland. 8 year old me was at the Texan Dome for the Crawley fight. That place was stunned and so upset. Of course 80 percent of the audience were uneducated boxing fans that were just proud of a hometown hero. They had no clue who Crawley even was. He wins that fight which my dad kept calling his tuneup, he gets BOOM BOOM. It was a sad day in Levelland.

Super footage Rich, Love was one of those enigma boxers which always fascinate me, they really make the fight game unpredictable at times. He had the tools but just not the breaks. Glad to know he ended up with a great family life and putting something back into the fight game training youngsters. Best boxing channel by far.👏🥊

Love is enigmatic in the sense that he was obviously very talented and was also hooked up with the right people. Angelo Dundee one of boxing’s greatest trainers…It seems like this guy should have been more than just a dangerous spoiler .. Perhaps it was the complete lack of amateur experience that held him back.

Jerry Quarry is a distant cousin of mine. We share a 13th great grampa named Knight William Forbes. We also share several other great grampa's including Edward III, Edward I Longshanks down to William The Conqueror. On the Scots side he is related to Robert The Bruce another great gramps we have in common. He is a descendant of Kings. No wonder he was such a fighter!

Here is the absolute truth, no gimmick, no issue of race, not his size, not his style, the fact is, like Muhammad Ali stated, this person, Rocky Marciano, could take unbelievable punishment. Ali said, upon being asked if he could beat Rocky, " I don't know if I could have beaten him because he could not be hurt". That's all, no more, no less. Now, post your arguments, but the fact remains, this was an indestructible person.
